Paul Strohm (pictured) is among the numerous Kansas City contingent of players who have made their way to the Horseshoe Council Bluffs for a shot at some nice money. Strohm is a regular on the RGPS scene and has three cashes on the tour and $22,000 in lifetime tournament winnings.
That includes a nice win on the Heartland Poker Tour in December, where he won a $235 event in St. Charles, Missouri, for $8,515.
Strohm works in building automation, installing sophisticated network security systems like one might see in a casino. He also works as an occasional film producer – including the 2017 film "Top Coat Cash," which was filmed in his hometown of Kansas City.
The film came about after he sponsored a young lady in the Miss USA pageant in 2013. While at the pageant he was introduced to her brother, an aspiring writer and director. He sent Strohm a script and they were soon filming.
"I've always been a movie guy," he says.
Imdb.com offers this description of the film: "After losing a major fight, a professional MMA fighter returns home from Vegas, where he reunites with various individuals from his past - including a father/son duo who recruit him to engage in their daring bank heists."
With one project under his belt, the two are now working on another film, "Serpentine," which is pre-production. He's certainly hoping his efforts here at the Horseshoe produce a happy ending.
