Tyler Tabman is a former champion in the popular card game Yu-Gi-Oh and is transitioning those skills over to the poker felt.
There is an eclectic group of personalities and backgrounds in any poker tournament but Tyler Tabman's story stands out beyond the regular cluster. Tabman's background is in card games, but not the type with 52 in a deck.
Magic: The Gathering has its place among the poker community among alternative card games but Tabman is in a class of his own. Tabman won the 2012 Yu-Gi-Oh North American Championships, beating a field of 1,700 to claim top honors. Using a variety of decks, Tabman defeated the field and advanced to the world championship in Japan.
While he won't be able to use Choas Dragons or a Snowman Eater to win this event, Tabman is ready to get to work using suited connectors this time around. Championship stories come in all shapes and sizes and a deep run for Tabman would make for one that will outlast the rest.
