If his poker career were to end tomorrow, Michael Lech (pictured) could tell stories for years about his heads up battles. First, he lost in an epic match to Hung Le last summer in the WSOP Crazy Eights event and today, came up short again to Thanh Bui. Lech started the match with a sizable chip disadvantage and then came back before losing the match in dramatic fashion.
Lech limped the button and Bui raised to 250,000. Lech called and the 9♦8♠5♠ flop was checked by both players. Bui checked the 9♠ turn and Lech bet 180,000. Bui called and then checked the J♦ river. Lech put in a massive bet of 1,100,000 and after some thought, Bui moved all-in to put Lech at risk.
Lech tanked long and hard for his last 1,250,000 before finding a call with Q♦10♦ for a straight. Bui slapped 9♥8♥ on the felt for a full house and celebrated the victory with his rail. Lech leaves Kansas City $32,291 richer as he heads to his next destination. A winner's recap will be posted shortly.
