Co-workers day, Rob Palacios (L) and Steve Johnson (R) find themselves side-by-side on Day 2 of the RG KC Main Event.

In a battle of two of Kansas City's finest municipal workers, fellow firefighters Steve Johnson and Rob Palacios battled in a hand that sent one a double and the other back to the chip average.

Scotter Clark opened for a raise from early position to 15,000 and Palacios three-bet to 32,000 in the hijack. From the cutoff, Johnson jammed for 89,000 and action folded back to Clark.

Clark asked what the total was and once he was satisfied with the answer, folded putting the decision to Palacios. Palacios thought shortly about what to do and dropped in chips for a call.

Johnson was in perfect shape to double up with A♣A♠ against the AK of Palacios. Only one diamond hit the flop and Palacios was drawing dead by the turn.

After the chips were exchanged, Johnson stacked up to 205,000 and Palacios is down to 235,000 but still very much alive to defend his title.
