Kyle Cartwright (pictured) took a tough blow to Mike Cordell and is now on the rail a few spots shy of consecutive RG Tunica final tables.
Cordell opened to 35,000 in early position and Michael Pelt called in the hijack. Cartwright raised to 135,000 on the button, leaving himself with 10,000 behind.
Cordell called and Pelt called, turning over 7♣7♥. Cartwright kept his hand covered and the flop came out Q♠8♠7♦. With the set in front of Cartwright, he shook his head and threw his final chips in.
Cartwright needed help with A♦J♦ and picked up a flush draw on the 4♦ turn. The 3♣ river missed him, though, and he departs in 16th place. Pelt is up to 1,845,000 and the field earns a pay bump to $2,930.
